The Hitchin 5km is set in the town center of the historic Hitchin. It is a uniquely set up course that is fast and flat and has great PB potential! It is a great opportunity to race around the town, taking in the sites such as the historic market square, the local and unique independent shops, the historic buildings, the pathways that run by the famous church and river and not to mention to iconic steel statues that sit outside Coopers Yard! All participants will get a bespoke medal and refreshments post-race.
The course itself is 2 laps, both being 2.5km each, it’s gradually evolved over the last few years that we have been running it. The route is mostly on paths but some roads need to be crossed to join up the race route, but no major roads are used. We have marshals along the entire route so it is perfectly safe. The risks along the route include concrete posts, other types of posts, bins, bus shelters, some road crossings, cobbled road sections, some tight turns, pedestrians and road vehicles. Every effort will be made to reduce these risks.
The race route is shown below so that you can recce the route of you choose to do so prior to the race and if you have any questions before then you can contact us. The next race is planned for September 2018.
