Welcome to the beginning of the Runger Games!
By totally ripping off the actual books and films that are called the Hunger Games, we have adapted the idea to pit you all against each others districts. Just like the films, you will do battle against each others areas, known in the film as Districts. If you still have no idea what I am talking about then click HERE!
I will keep this as simple as possible!
PS To be part of this game you need Strava. If you haven’t already, get on board!
You have all been divided up into 5 Districts (all approximations where possible).
District 1 – North West Hitchin
District 2 – North East Hitchin
District 3 – South West Hitchin
District 4 – South East Hitchin
District 5 – The Wilds!
ATTACHED TO THIS EMAIL YOU WILL FIND YOUR DISTRICT! LOOK NOW…Each week there are 4 categories that you can win points for your District.
The Fastest – Can your District earn the Cheetah badge of honour for being the speediest in the game?
The Strongest – Will your District come out in its numbers to win the Elephant Badge of honour for strength in numbers?
The Highest – Which District will reach the peaks to win the Mountain Goat Badge of honour?
The Longest – Does your District have what it takes to go the extra mile and win the Horse Badge of honour?
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
You will need to answer these 4 questions every week, that way you will be helping us to collate the data quickly…
What run had your best/fastest average pace (minimum of 5km for a run)
How many times have you ran, or even walked? (minimum of 5km to count)
What run (or walk) had the most elevation gain?
What was your longest run this week?
HOW TO UPLOAD YOUR RESULTS
When you have the answers by the end of the day each week on Sunday, visit this website. It is at this website you will need to submit your name and the answers to the 4 questions that remain the same each week (as shown above).
IT IS VERY SIMPLE, JUST TELL US YOUR FASTEST RUN, HOW MANY TIMES YOU HAVE BEEN OUT (MAX OF 7 AND FOR AT LEAST 5KM), HIGHEST CLIMB FROM A RUN AND LONGEST DISTANCE FROM A RUN, AT THE END OF EACH WEEK.
We will keep them s simple as possible to follow, and to be fair you don’t need to really do anything apart from what you are already doing, but here’s the rules just so you know what it is all about…..I must stress that this is a team game, and you will not win anything by yourself, as each category (apart from Strength) will require the individual times of a minimum of 5 citizens from your Districts (Strength category requires as many of your citizens as possible to take part).
Each Category is worth Points for your District. Each week the District that wins a category will get 5 points. The second highest will get 4 points, third gets 3 points, fourth gets 2 Points and last gets 1 Point.
The fastest category – We will take the 5 fastest average times, and add them up to get a figure. You MUST cover at least 5km (3.1 miles in old money) for an average speed reading. The District with the LOWEST combined times will win the 5 Points on offer, and so on.
The Strongest category – This is pure strength in numbers, the more that turn out for your district the better, if you want to win this one. Every time you run or walk a minimum of 5km, you have logged an activity for your District. Only one activity a day is permitted. One citizen can log a maximum of 7 per week. Make them count!
The Highest category – This is about pure elevation gain. The Data will be taken and used for point awarding for the top 5 climbers from each District. Only one highest climb from each person will count, so one person cannot do 7 days of hill reps! The top 5 climbs data will be added up to see which district wins this one.
The Longest category – As it says! The top 5 longest runs from each district will be added up to see who has covered the most ground. The data MUST come from 5 runners.
Each week the league tables will show which District is the Top of the Games.
There will be the category winners on show too, along with the leading all time “Hall of Fame” Male and Female performers from each category. There are categories for everyone, not just the “speedier” runners, or distance runners, but for sheer volume of turning out and for climbing too, it really is a Team Game as you are all needed to pick up as many points for your District as possible.
